The goal of this adventure was to complete the non-stop road called Pirinexus. And what is Pirinexus? Pirinexus is a route through the Catalan Pyrenees, spanning about 353km through the province of Girona and southern France, traversing some of the most beautiful landscapes in Catalonia.
But we wanted to go further and decided to start from home (Vic) and cover a large part of the Pirinexus route, aiming for 400km.
So the plan was simple. We started at 3 AM, leaving from Vic and heading towards Girona, passing through the iconic Collsesplanes mountain pass and descending via the road to Osó.
From there, we headed towards Girona and began the official Pirinexus route. With already 70km behind us, we continued towards Olot and then to Sant Joan de les Abadesses. This is where we started climbing towards Coll d’Ares, the point where we entered France.
Once in France, we headed east until crossing back into Spain at La Jonquera. From La Jonquera, one of the most beautiful but also toughest parts in terms of fatigue begins, in the Alt Empordà region.
Finally, after over 16 hours of endurance, we reached the 400km mark with 4,123 meters of elevation gain, achieving our goal. Enjoying another adventure on the bike with friends.
